With just 22 days left before the big day, Christmas trees are starting to light up in cities all around the world. While each one is stunning in its own way, some are really outstanding, like this floating creation that is an annual tradition at Rio de Janeiro's, Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, since 1996.
On Sunday, December 2nd, over 100,000 people gathered to watch the lighting ceremony that was took place amidst a six minute firework show. Built by Brazil's largest insurance company, this year's stunning decor featured the four seasons. Images of leaves represented fall, snowflakes reflected winter, while flowers and gold ribbons stood in for spring and summer, respectively. In addition to that the 524-ton structure also featured balloons that were lit up by 3.1 million light bulbs!
Over a million visitors are expected to view the tree, which will light up the lagoon until January 6th, 2013. Besides being gorgeous, the 85-meter (279 feet) man-made giant metal structure also happens to be the world's largest floating Christmas tree!
