The Person That Made Michael Phelps Feel Like A 'Crazy Bieber Fan'

Imagine how you would feel if you were just hanging out in your room and in walked Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift or whoever it is that you have fantasized about meeting all your life. That, is exactly how Michael Phelps described as his reaction upon meeting this athlete that he has idolized since he was a kid - Except, the incident did not occur in the privacy of his home but in a television studio in front of a live audience, which means that his entire reaction was caught on tape! So who is this person? Read on . . .

The 22 Olympic medal swimming legend who was one of many celebrity guests invited to talk in a special Ryder Cup episode of Golf Channel's Feherty Live, was being his normal pleasant goofy self, when in walked in his idol - basketball star and winner of six NBA titles, Michael Jordan.

While Phelps has always talked about how much the former Chicago Bulls player had inspired him as a child and the two have even exchanged texts, they had never met face-to-face. Needless to say, while Jordan was his normal cool self, shaking his young admirer's hand and then giving him a giant hug, Phelps turned into a tongue-tied blushing teenager. As to why a Baltimore kid would look up to a Chicago basketball star? Simply because just like Phelps, he was the greatest!

Though Jordan left early to attend ex-fellow teammate Scottie Pippen's birthday party, Phelps never got over his shock and nervousness for the rest of the show, a fact that was quite apparent to those that watched the show which aired on September 27th, 2012.

As for what Jordan thought about his young fan? He is just honored that someone as accomplished as Phelps looks up to him. He invited Phelps for a game of golf, which happens to be the sport both retired athletes are now pursuing in earnest. He also offered to chauffeur Phelps around for the duration of his Chicago visit. The only thing he will not do for his young fan is get in the pool - That's because while Michael can score unlimited three-pointers, he cannot swim! And given that Phelps has now decided to focus on golf, he too does not seem to want to be 'Like Mike' as far as the sport goes! Who knows, maybe Mike and Michael may some day soon be known as the formidable duo to beat at golf!
