In this riveting debut, a telepathic girl must figure out why she is the key to her brand-new world—before the wrong person finds the answer first.

Twelve-year-old Sophie has never quite fit into her life. She’s skipped multiple grades and doesn’t really connect with the older kids at school, but she’s not comfortable with her family, either. And Sophie has a secret—she’s a Telepath, someone who can read minds. But the day Sophie meets Fitz, a mysterious (and adorable) boy, she learns she’s not alone. He’s a Telepath too, and it turns out the reason she has never felt at home is that, well…she isn’t. Fitz opens Sophie’s eyes to a shocking truth, and almost instantly she is forced to leave behind her family for a new life in a place that is vastly different from what she has ever known.
But Sophie still has secrets, and they’re buried deep in her memory for good reason: The answers are dangerous and in high-demand. What is her true identity, and why was she hidden among humans? The truth could mean life or death—and time is running out.

FITZPHIE FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is one of the BEST books ever! Sharon Messenger is seriously on of my favorite authors. In this book, Sophie Foster has some troubles. She is really smart. After all, she’s 12 and is in high school. She doesn’t really fit in. The rest of the kids in her grade hate her because she is so young. She also doesn’t fit in because she has a secret- not the type of secrets you whisper to your friends during recess. She is a telepath, and she has been since she was 5. She hasn’t told anyone, and it has made her life hard because she can hear what everyone is thinking- even the things she doesn’t want to hear. She is so different that she doesn’t think she fits in. And she doesn’t, at least not here in the forbidden cities. She meets a boy (who she instantly has a crush on) during a field trip to the museum. Apparently they have been looking for her. The boy, Fitz, takes to a place where she belongs… ish. Even though other people are telepaths and have strange abilities, she will never fit in. Sophie will always be the “human girl.” Sophie has many adventures in the Elvin Cities, but I’ll let you discover what she does as you go along with Sophie and her friends on her journey. This is a great book and i think that everyone should read it!😁

Sokeefe is better in my opinion

Keefe and Sophie belong together. Team Fosterkeefe

EXACTLY! Fitz is annoying and comes off as toxic. Sophie deserves better!

Plus Keefe needs some happiness in his life. POV, I feel so bad 4 him!

I'm not summarizing it, I will spoil it otherwise. The book is magical, mystical and super funny. Keefe is a character I deeply connect with, and also, LORD HUNKYHAIR! Read the book if you like elves, fairies and just magic in general. Even though it is set in a land of ELVES, it's very realistic to how tweens and teen feel. 11/10!

Yes!!!! Keefe is amazing!!!!!

Sophie Foster is a telepath who is living in a normal world but she doesn’t always feel like she fits in. Soon it’s clear when a boy called Fritz tells her why. It turns out she’s an elf but she’s not convinced. She didn’t have pointy ears or look anything like an elf. But she soon has seen enough in the elven world to know it’s true. As if things can’t get any crazier Sophie finds out that her human parents aren’t her real parents! She is the first elf to be raised in the Forbidden Cities (the human world) in decades. She’s forced to leave the world and everything she knows and come to live in the elven world with Gary and Edaline, two elves who agree to adopt her. Elves aren’t the only things who live in her world either. Goblins, Trolls, Dwarves and other creatures lived there too. As if things couldn’t be more stressful Sophie Foster has to take a test to see if she can get into Foxfire, a school for advanced and skilled prodigies. .. Sophie Foster discovers that everybody (or most people) have a talent like for instance, she was a telepath and Edaline is an Empath (to be able to feel what somebody's emotions are. Sophie passes the test to get into Foxfire but she feels lonely until she meets Dex and Keefe. She also discovers that she was given her powers by a mysterious group of people called “The Black Swan.” After half a year at Foxfire Sophie passes her midterms. Hardly. Near the end of the school year she and Dex are kidnapped! Their kidnappers throw the tracking device that Sophie had with her into the ocean. Without it there’s no chance of being found and rescued. After they escape weeks later they end up in Paris where they find their way back from there. On the way they discover Dexes ability was the ability to manipulate machines or also called being a Technopath.

this is my favorite book series when sophie gave keefe the elf cookies it was so funny the way shannon messenger described it :) the fact that keefe calls the alicorn glitterbut is so hilarious. if i could give it 1-100 stars i definitely give it 100 best book ever!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree. The series is definitely in my top five favorite series. And Shannon Messenger is in my top five authors.

I absolutely love this book!

ummmm..... what do I say other than... GO TEAM FOSTER-KEEFE!!!! (or if your one of those people, sophitz) probably the best book series you will ever read. I mean it. it may seem a little bit slow in the start, but just keep reading. this is the second time I am reading this series, and I am going steady with about a book every two days. I am on the seventh one and am going to die having to wait for the 9th book to come out. (I'm sure she'll leave us on a cliffhanger) but I mean it. read it.

this book wasn't really my thing

I absolutely LOVE this book series!!! I had finished the series in 3 months and read it again 4 times. Now I am just waiting for book 9 to come out. Anybody who reads this, rush to the bookstore or library to check this series out!!!!!! The start might be a little confusing and boring, but adventure awaits!

This book was very disapointing. It was a literal copy of Harry Potter. Litterally THE SAME THING. The book is boring. At first seeing sophie adapt to new changes in her new elf school was coo, but after a while her school life gets boring. It really stinks. Don't let the cool art covers fool you. And apparently leaping into different mind spells and moving things with your mind and shooting lightning isn't magic. It's "just how it is." And the elfs won't even tell sophie ANYTHING. I mean nothing. It's good to be mysterious but not knowing anything just gets annoying and boring. Don't waste your time. Read Land of Stories instead.

This book is the best!!!!!!! Very closely related to Percy Jackson and Harry Potter. Definitely would give it a 100 star rating if I could.
