It's a perfect world, where everything looks right. But ugly truths lie beneath…

Imagine a world without poverty, war or pain. A world where everything is comfortable and familiar - a world where everything is the same. No colour, no music. In such a world, Jonas is selected to be the next Receiver of Memory and is apprenticed to the Giver, an old man who stores memories from the Community’s past. As Jonas learns about violence and sadness, as well as beauty and joy, he discover the sinister truth behind his safe existence.

Simply and beautifully written, The Giver is a thought-provoking look at utopian society. It was awarded the Newbery Medal in 1994.

it so comfusing with jonas and his job as the new receiver in trainting.

The Giver is about a place where everything is grey and they have rules for everything. When you turn a certain age you receive or have to do something. Jonas turned the certain age where you have a job and he was given the giver which is the most important.

well i'm reading this in my TD English class and so far I just LOVE this book and my Teacher says not to read ahead but it is such a page turner from the very beginning some people think this book is not normal at all I do not but at some parts it is but if you are not reading this WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?!?!?!?!?!

The series was pretty good but, this was my favorite one

I love this book. It is way better than the movie.

This story is told in third person about a kid name jonas of his point of view. He lives in a utopian community were everything is in one color but then he was annouced the now color he saw things no one else see. And the his utopia beacame a distopia.
