This book is very interesting. This is my first time reading this kind of book. This book is written in the 60's it's a pretty old book. But this book showed how society treats others before. This book is about a white journalist experience the racism discrimination by using medication to darken his skin. This book is very inspiring and also very painful to read. He only darken his skin for seven weeks, but he can't handle it anymore. But what about the blacks that have their skin black forever? They have to experience these kinds of discrimination every day in their whole life. I recommend this kind of book to people who enjoys reading non-fiction books about the history in different perspectives.Over 8 years agomay_c has read this book.

This is one of the novella to the selection series, even though I'm not a big fan of romance books, but I quite like the selection series. This book's perspective is from Maxon's mother and the time is when the queen just met the king. In this book, his mother faced a lot of challenges and obstacles. Her mother was from the country side, even though their social class is not that low, they work like slaves and labor. The king is suprised and shocked that even the country is working just fine, but the citizens aren't happy, because of the citizen's weren't happy will cause conflicts between the citizens and the king. This book is a typical romance book, it's located at a country with kings and queens so it's quite hard to relate. I will suggest this book to people who like romance books and enjoy the selection series.Almost 9 years agomay_c added a book review.

This book is a story based on the selection series but in a different perspective. Sometimes reading the same story plot but in a different perspective is really amazing and exciting. Before reading this book, I've always imagine how other characters felt and picture it with the story, but now, there's a few parts that amazed me because I wasn't predicting that there will be another story behind the Guard which is the princess's ex-boyfriend. And this book also includes the other perspective of the prince before meeting America. Both the Prince and the current Princess aren't expecting to fell inlove with each other. Prince Maxon had someone before the selection, also America. This book is really exciting and some parts are pretty entertaining. I can't really relate to this book because this book is based on a story plot of a country using kings and queens in the future. But some part of this book I can relate to, for example, the guard felt left out when America went to the selection. I can relate to the feeling even though I didn't participate in the activity. I will suggest this book to people who like the classic Romance books and who liked the selection.Almost 9 years agomay_c has read this book.

Many of my friends suggested about this book, they said that this book is really good and it's super emotional. Although I think that John Green’s The Fault In Our Stars is a little cliched, I really liked this book because of how the characters are very relatable and kind. For example, Gus is very selfless and spent all of his remaining time with his girlfriend Hazel, even when he’s dying. Also, I really loved all the emotions in this book, this book made me feel sad yet happy because of how kind and caring Gus is to Hazel. This book was full of young love , heartbreak and humour, and if you are a hopeless romantic I would totally recommend this book. I also like this book because it brings awareness to cancer, a lot of people look over cancer lightly but after this book I think cancer is a very important issue that has to be addressed.Almost 9 years agomay_c has read this book.

The book started when they just got left the WCKD’s maze. They successfully escaped the maze, but the next challenge that they need to face is the world, the flare, the cranks. My favorite character in this book is Minho, because he can cheer others up when they are in a hard situation, but he can also lead the whole group of boys seriously. Conflicts between characters start to happen, they are confused about who to trust. The amazing part about this book is that you can think about the situation that happened in different perspective. The perspective of the book that the story plot gave you makes you think that WCKD is bad, but when you look at the whole situation in WCKD’s perspective, they are trying to save live, why are they wrong? Trying to think in another perspective, such as Thomas and his other friends, WCKD is killing them to save other people, what’s the point? They didn’t deserve to die. When you look at Teresa’s perspective, because she is struggling between the reality that what should she do. She didn't mean to betray the boys, I think she is confused about what she did too. I think this is the most interesting part about the books and makes people think that the world isn’t fair, life is cruel. This situation that they are going through this video is very hard to relate to our daily life as a middle school teenager, but the situation of sometimes looking or thinking at something in a different perspective might change the way we look at things and forget the bias about the object. I've felt something similar to the situation that Thomas faced in the story, got betrayed by someone that he trust the most, when I'm in 5th grade, I told something secret to my best friend but she ended up telling others and make fun of me behind my back. If I can change something about this story, I'll like to change the ending a little, because I think the ending is too rush. I strongly recommend this book and also there is a movie of this book that came out called "the scorch trials". It's absolutely amazing. Whoever enjoys young adult such as the Hunger games will also love this book as well.About 9 years ago
